How does the WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) help us understanding the climate change?
The aim of the project Climadat is to study how global climatic influences at a great distance affects the local climate, and also how local phenomena affect global climate. The ModpoW data loggers, in this project, offer a high-prisicion measurement.

November 9, 2010, “La Caixa” Foundation and the Foundation Catalan Institute of Climate Sciences (IC3) established an agreement, with the aim of creating a network of eight climate observation and research stations. The sampling stations (or sites) are located in seven regions: Catalonia, Basque Country, Galicia, Castilla and Leon, Andalucia and the Canary Islands. In 2013, ModpoW was selected to collaborate with La Caixa and IC3 for the project's second station, Vallderejo Natural Park. We have installed 12 data loggers for this project. In the next phase there will be 80 data loggers in total. For this project, the data loggers of ModpoW offer high-accuracy measurements to study: greenhouse gas emissions, temperature, air currents, etc. The project enables us to understand what our future climate conditions may look like.

“It is a very interesting and educational challenge of eight continuous measurement stations throughout the peninsula, because it has never been done and it doesn't exist. And it is an unique experience in the world.“ – Manel Nofuentes, Bid and Tender Technician of IC3

WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS (WSN) SYSTEM

The aim of the project Climadat is to study how global climatic influences at a great distance affects the local climate, and also how local phenomena affect global climate. We want to know about climate changes, how it changes, and how it may change in the future. The data loggers detect every small change which leads to big changes in the ecosystem.

All the data will be contributed to investigations, studies and the society, to facilitate the understanding through educational activities. The collected data allows us to study the climate impacts, the relationship between global and local climates, future climate prediction, and greenhouse gases.

“Modpow are people with lots of interests, much experience and with a lot of new knowledge. We are collecting information and data without problems, everything’s good. Very valuable. ” – Manel Nofuentes, Bid and Tender Technician of IC3

We will keep working with the project and the next phase will be in August, 2015. For more information, welcome to visit www.climadat.es
